Frequently asked questions

1. When are Tinkertaylor kittens available?

When a litter arrives — and only then. We plan every mating a year ahead and only breed when the girl is at her best and the stud has proven himself. That might mean one or two litters a year across the cattery, or it might mean a gap. We’d rather have no kittens than kittens for the sake of it. Join the waiting list and we’ll tell you honestly where you are.

2. How much is a Tinkertaylor kitten?

Pet kittens are priced on enquiry — Sharon will confirm, as pricing moves with the litter and the breed. What the price covers is the same every time: GCCF registration, a full five-generation pedigree, four weeks of free Petplan insurance, two sets of vaccinations, microchip, worming, flea treatment, vet check and the food they’re on. Show-type or breeding kittens are discussed one at a time. If a Siamese or Oriental kitten anywhere is dramatically cheaper, something on that list is missing, and it is usually one of the ones that matter.

3. What’s included with a kitten?

GCCF registration, pedigree, four weeks’ Petplan cover, two vaccinations, microchip, worming, flea treatment, vet check, and the food they’re on so you can switch slowly. And lifetime support. Questions answered when you need them, and if anything ever goes wrong you talk to us first.

4. Can we come and meet the kittens first?

Yes, once they’re old enough. Nothing to see before four weeks, and mum needs the peace. From about eight weeks viewings are by appointment, usually after a reservation deposit. We don’t do open-house visits. A litter is small, Oriental kittens are busy, and we’d rather you came to meet your kitten than someone else’s.

5. Do you deliver?

Kittens can only be delivered by prior arrangement. Kittens can be delivered within the UK by ourselves, directly to your doorstep, at an additional cost — but please mention this when reserving your kitten.

6. What if we have other pets?

Tell us. Siamese and Oriental cats are social, vocal and curious, and they will have opinions about everything in the house, dog included. They do well with other cats of similar temperament. They can do very well with the right dog. They are usually fine with children who’ve been shown how to handle a cat. What they don’t do well is a quiet house they’re left alone in all day. If that’s your home, a Siamese is probably not the right breed.
