This page explains what personal information Tinkertaylor Siamese & Oriental Cats collects when you use this website, how we use it, and what your rights are. We’ve tried to keep the language plain rather than legal. If anything is unclear, please email us at Contact@tinkertaylorsiamese.co.uk.
This is a placeholder policy drafted by the website builder — Sharon and Chris will review and confirm it before launch.
Who we are
Tinkertaylor is a small, home-based cattery run by Sharon Gurney Taylor and Chris in Burnley, Lancashire. We are GCCF-registered breeders of Siamese and Oriental cats. The Tinkertaylor prefix has been registered since 2012.
Our website address is: https://tinkertaylorsiamese.co.uk.
What information we collect
We only collect personal information that you give us directly. In practice, this means:
- Enquiry form: when you fill in our enquiry form, we collect the name, email address, phone number (if you give one), and the message you send us. This is so we can reply.
- Email and phone: if you email us at Contact@tinkertaylorsiamese.co.uk or call us on 07775 594188, we keep a record of the conversation.
- Waiting list: if you join our kitten waiting list, we hold the contact details and preferences you’ve given us so we can let you know when a suitable kitten is available.
We do not collect bank details, payment card information, identity documents, or any “special category” personal data through this website.
What we use it for
- Replying to enquiries you send us.
- Managing our kitten waiting list and matching kittens to suitable homes.
- Keeping in touch with families after their kitten has gone home, if they would like us to.
- Keeping basic records of past placements (so we can support a kitten throughout its life).
We will never sell your details, swap them with other breeders, or send you marketing you didn’t ask for.
Lawful basis for processing
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, our lawful basis for handling your information is:
- Consent — when you fill in a form or contact us, you’re giving us consent to reply and to keep your information for the purposes set out above.
- Legitimate interests — for limited follow-up about a kitten you’ve reserved or that we’ve placed with you.
- Legal obligation — we keep records of placements where we have a legal or contractual reason to (for example, the GCCF transfer paperwork).
Who sees your information
Your information stays with Sharon and Chris. We use the following third parties to run the website itself; they may, by necessity, process small amounts of technical information (such as your IP address while you’re browsing):
- Our web host — stores the website files and any data submitted through forms, in the UK / EU.
- Form plugin (Gravity Forms) — receives the enquiry form submission and emails it to us.
- SEO and security plugins — record technical information to help the site run safely.
We do not share your information with any other breeder, registry, or third party for marketing purposes.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies for technical reasons — for example, to remember whether you’re logged in, to keep the site running quickly, and (if enabled) to gather anonymous statistics about which pages are most useful. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser’s settings.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that don’t lead anywhere: we keep these for up to 12 months in case you come back to us, then delete them.
- Waiting-list contacts: we keep these for as long as you’d like to stay on the list. Tell us and we’ll remove you.
- Kitten placements: we keep records of cats we’ve placed for the lifetime of the kitten so we can support you if a question comes up later.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us at any time:
- What information we hold about you.
- To correct anything that’s wrong.
- To delete your information (where we’re not legally required to keep it).
- To stop using your information for any particular purpose.
- To complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data.
Just email us on Contact@tinkertaylorsiamese.co.uk and we’ll do whichever you’ve asked, within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything substantive on this page, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. The current version is always the one you’re reading.
